Layer up with leather this winter and remember there’s no rule to say it has to be black!

Who doesn’t love a bit of leather? CVUK certainly do, whether it’s jackets, leggings, shorts, skirts, tops, coats, bags or boots, collectively we have it all. Each season all four Fashion Weeks are packed full of leather clad models, but none more so than the Fall catwalks where designers show their winter pieces; and when is leather more appropriate than in winter?

Colour palettes were kept simple across the catwalks with leathers in dusky greys, muted blues and charcoal blacks. Leather was kept in its trademark colour at Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler with detailing in the form of fur panelling on belted leather trench coats and chunky gold zips added onto large collars. Michael Kors layered their coats over black slips and styled with laced, heeled boots while Proenza Schouler paired oversized biker jackets with loose fitting leather trousers.

Nicolas Guesquiere (who this week announced he is stepping down as creative director after fifteen years at the fashion house) channelled made a bolder move with blood-red leather pencil dresses, softened with silk and lace detailing and black leather gloves. Versace chose to experiment with a more feminine feel with studded leather mini dresses and knee-high mesh boots, while Alenxader Wang opted for grey-blue leather for her collared leather jackets and matching cropped trousers.

As one of fashion’s biggest trends all year round, lucky for us there is never a shortage of leather on the high-street. Why not invest in a statement piece like a leather coat this season, and if you’re worried about the cost then you can rest assured that it will still be as stylish this time next year. Team a leather dress with chunky gold and silver jewellery or add personality to a jeans and jumper combo with thigh-high leather boots.
