Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Buying & Supply Chain to join our team. This role will oversee and optimize the development of our product range, manage our supply chain operations, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and maintain high levels of service and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and execute a supplier sourcing strategy
- Support Merchandising in planning supplier production volumes
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure purchase order volumes and dates.
- Commercial Range Development:
- Develop a product development strategy
- Guide the Buyer to create and manage a critical NPD process
- Analyze competitor set and market trends
- Develop a strategy for spare parts and price architecture
- Supplier Management & Relationship Building:
- Manage and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers in China
- Conduct regular supplier visits, audits, and performance reviews
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and product pricing with suppliers
- Logistics & Operations Coordination:
- Oversee logistics operations, including shipping and inventory management
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics providers
- Management of Technical Resource:
- Identify and address risks in the supply chain
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and overall quality
- Manage the relationship with SEDEX for ethical and quality standards
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of the supply chain
- Present regular supply chain performance reports to senior management
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
- Experience: 8-10 years in supply chain management, with at least 5 years focused on managing suppliers in China or other Asia-Pacific regions.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with experience in using data to drive decisions and improvements.
- Languages: Fluent in English, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
