Happy International Women’s (Working) Day: Powerful BOSSY Women

#HappyInternationalWomensDay!!

BOSSY WOMEN!

To refresh the minds of those of you who may not be as inclined into the history of International Women’s Day let us explain. At a time in history where women went through the struggle for Civil Rights there was an idea imposed for women to have a day dedicated to them that commemorates the trials and tribulations for women’s right in the 1900’s, this was observed from the beginning of the 1900’s. The Social movement and communist countries celebrated this National day and was later adopted by America. German Socialist Luise Zietz implemented an annual International Women’s Day and this was followed through by fellow socialist Clara Zetkin however was not yet put forward until the end of February and later set to be remembered every year on March 8th. Women from 17 countries favoured this idea and wanted to pursue this day to promote equal rights while including Suffrage for women.

A day to celebrate the achievements of BOSSY WOMEN and their excellence! Let us put the social, political, cultural and economic accomplishments of women and their significant contributions to the society in the limelight.

This year is a very good year to take part in #BeBoldForChange and this means calling “on the masses or call[ing]on yourself to help forge a better working world — a more inclusive, gender equal world.” With so much going on this year having Trump implement ideas to attack women’s rights, it is only right for us as women to stand together! There are so many BOSSY WOMEN and GIRL POWER – It is only right that we stand as one and shout how AMAZING WE ARE!

“Each one of us — with women, men and non-binary people joining forces — can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity. Through purposeful collaboration, we can help women advance and unleash the limitless potential offered to economies the world over.”

Influential Women:

ROSA PARKS (1950s)
(Civil Rights Influence)

Rosa Parks prompts the Montgomery bus boycott. She is an absolute inspiration for all women in all countries as she became “the first lady of civil rights” in America. She stood for what she believed in making changes for the good and standing up to her rights. During the 1950’s racism was still very prominent and in that era for those that were not fair skin and so Rosa park’s refusal to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama bus spurred a city-wide boycott. The boycott lasted for over a year until the US Supreme court declared bus segregation as illegal. A very dramatic experience for Parks yet very strong to say the least! In her lifetime, she has received many tributes and is referred to as ‘The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement’.

TWIGGY
(Fashion Influence)

Twiggy the original ‘It Girl’, the woman who broke fashion rules and established a new way of dressing without having to impress, it was all down to her sheer originality and flair for fashion. She became the world’s first supermodel and cultural icon of the changing times and fashion in Britain.

PRINCESS DIANA
(Noble Humanitarian Influence)

An amazing woman who we call the good Humanitarian with a noble heart. She was a very influential figure who came from the Royal family, a dime who helped those less fortunate – she had a personable touch and loved to help people around the world.

“Your patron has never been happier to see you. Whatever uncertainties the last few weeks may have brought I want you to be certain of this our work together will continue unchanged. Especially at Christmas. The sick, the old, the handicapped and the homeless, the lonely, the confused and the simply unloved who are needing your help more than ever.” – Princess Diana

Malala Yousafzai
(Activist for female education)

Noble peace prize winner. A beautiful soul who has the strength of her convictions coupled with raw determination to make changes for a better world. Malala had survived getting shot twice by the Taliban and saying this came out even more stronger than ever before! An activist, a heroine, an inspiration, and a freedom warrior. What an incredible human being. Malala believed in equality and fought hard to speak out about education for women which she follows through until she sees every child in education – ‘her global fight for girl’s rights’. She truly is incomparable.

On ILD, women unite together to make it publicly aware to the world of the inequalities being faced as a woman – while also celebrating and uplifting each other on all their achievements! WOMEN RULE and continue to empower one another in all, especially on this very special day!

Let’s join our hands and move together so we can make real change!!
