10 Do’s and Don’ts For Your Job Interview

Preparing for an interview can be very stressful, but here at CVUK we have given you 10 simple guidelines to help.

Do’s

1. Dress smartly and speak clearly and confidently
2. Find out where the venue is beforehand, how to get there and how long it takes
3. Find out what kind of interview it will be so you can prepare and understand the role you are interviewing for
4. Prepare some questions to ask at the end of the interview, use it as an opportunity to find out more about the role and the company
5. Turn off your mobile phone, there is nothing worse than your phone going off

Don’ts

1. Don’t be late
2. Don’t slouch in your seat or do anything that makes you look uninterested
3. Don’t lie, even if you get the job, your employer can dismiss you if they find out that you have not been honest
4. Don’t read from notes or your CV, you should be familiar enough with your own history to be able to talk about it
5. In a survey of 3000 bosses 33% claimed that they know within the first 90 seconds of an interview whether they will hire someone
