CVUK at LC:M SS15
Even though summer has only just arrived in the UK (just about) it’s already time to start thinking about what to expect for Spring/Summer 15 in the world of menswear fashion…London Collections: Men was back this week! From innovative emerging talent, to iconic menswear brands and Savile Row tailors, CVUK gives you the lowdown on the key trends to watch out for and an insight into the Hunter Gather SS15 Live Presentation, which we were lucky enough to be invited to…for the second time this year!
Hunter Gather
For their SS15 collection, Hunter Gather took inspiration from the vibrancy, energy and attitude of R&B and dancehall rhythms combined with David Bowie and the energy, life and vividness of the Henry Matisse cut-out exhibition at the Tate Modern gallery. Mix these concepts together and we are presented with a lively & bright menswear collection named #MOVE
The brightly coloured collection reminded us of a modern take on the Fresh Prince, with curly perms, oversized floral prints, dancing jacquards, plastic sandals and applique cut out moifs.
Creative director David Bradshaw also paid homage to soul-boy roots with high waisted trousers and pleats making a comeback as the models strutted down the runway to swanky R&B rhythms.
The key shows & trends
Tom Ford: inspired by his roots in Texas and Mexico, Tom Ford showcased his new range of jeans, accompanied with fringed leather jackets and big bucked belts
Katie Eary: Like Tom Ford, Katie also took it to the West, but this time with fringed moccasins, distressed denim and sunset-coloured patterns all making an appearance
Burberrry: Christopher Bailey’s latest show filled with cold-weather items wearable for summer, such as velvet trousers, dark-indigo denim jackets and Pharrell style felt hats. Christopher Bailey was inspired by “Book covers and Bruce Chatwin.” Cashmere, cotton, and leather were covered in hand-painted motifs and illustrations inspired by vintage book covers.
E Tautz: Slouchy silhouettes and pinstripe short suits ruled the runway
Alexander McQueen: Along with Burberry, Alexander McQueen is also the show to watch. Here, Sarah Burton suggests white is the key colour for SS15, as her collection was filled with white tailored suits decorated in bold graphic prints of yellow, red and blue
Superdry: Superdry got us ready for the festival season with their sports-casual collection featuring thigh-length shorts, tie-dye T-shirts and rucksacks perfect for summer
