Selfridges £300m revamp!

Selfridges is to undergo a HUGE makeover by investing £300 million on its Oxford Street Flagship store – to make it the world’s largest accessories destination!

The luxury handbag department on the ground floor will be transformed into a handbag heaven (literally) – doubling its size to 50,000 square feet.  Becoming the largest ever investment made by a department store on a single project, the new department will cater for men and women, featuring High Street and designer brands, as well as accessories including leather goods and sunglasses. Add this to The Wonder Room (fine jewellery and watches department) and The Shoe Galleries, there is no doubt that Selfridges is set to become the ultimate and most comprehensive accessories destination in the world.

 “In the last 10 years Selfridges has grown from strength to strength and this significant investment in the redevelopment of our Oxford Street store is part of our commitment across all our businesses to provide leading luxury shopping experiences for our customers around the world,” chairman W.Galen Weston said of the exciting, much anticipated project.

The redevelopment is scheduled to begin at the end of June and will take at least 5 years to complete – we’re counting down already!
