If there’s one way to ensure you’re successful in a job interview it’s by showing the interviewer that the company is missing something without you.

Obviously, if a company is hiring there is a gap in their work team that they want filled, but your job during the time you are interviewing is to show them you can fill a gap they never realised they had.

Having researched the company and what position they are advertising, dig deeper into why the company needs someone for that position. Is it to maximise sales, for re-branding or to create an online presence? Whatever the reason may be they are looking to invest time and money into the successful applicant and you want this to be you. Rather than simply answering the regular questions they ask, why not create a hypothetical solution to their problem, what would be your first move in taking the company forward, should you be successful.

Taking the initiative to show the interviewer that not only do you have the skills and experience to fulfill the job role but that you have already generated ideas for their business already takes you a step ahead of the other applicants.
