CVUK The Weekly Round-Up

It’s been crazy busy for us here at CVUK this week so we’ve decided to combine two weeks worth of news into one!

#1

Last week saw the end of the Balenciaga road for Nicolas Ghesquière as the creative director announced his decision to leave the fashion label where he has been for almost two decades.

Hailed as one of the greatest designers of all time, Ghesquière joined the fashion house in 1997 at the age of 25 and has since turned it into a catwalk favourite amongst fashion’s elite, with his greatest supporter Kristen Stewart, who wears his designs to every big red carpet event. What next for Mr Ghesquière? Already rumoured at the designer who will re-launch Schiaparelli we can’t wait for his next move.

Another designer parting ways with a fashion label is Scottish born Christopher Kane who said goodbye to Donatella Versace after ending his partnership with Versace’s sister brand Versus this week.

As well as designing for his own line Christopher Kane, he has fronted the Italian sub-label for 6 seasons since 2009. Kane leaves the brand to focus his attention fully on his own label, despite rumours that he will replace Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, and Versus will now end all seasonal collections and instead release regular capsule collections instead.

There is no place that Disney won’t go. After collaborating with Harrods for their limited edition Disney princess windows they have now partnered up with Barneys in New York for their festive campaign ‘Electric Holiday’ which sees all our favourite cartoon characters getting a fashion makeover. The short animated film features Minnie Mouse shopping for a Lanvin dress, bumping into Sarah-Jessica Parker, Brian Boy and Carine Roitfeld and walking at Paris Fashion Week.

Other Disney characters include Micky Mouse in Balenciaga, Snow White in Rick Owens, Daisy Duck in D&G, Goofy in Balmain and Cruella De Ville in Nina Ricci.
